The Kimye Wedding Part 2- The Valentino Pre-wedding Brunch

Day 2 of the Kardashian wedding celebrations continued with a brunch at Valentino Garavani's chateau, just outside of Paris. This was an intimate affair, including the Kardashian family, (minus Rob Kardashian who had a row with the family and didn't even attend the wedding in the end) close friends of the couple and fashion greats like Andre Leon Talley; former Editor-at-large for American Vogue.

Of course we got a lot of insight into this via the endless instagramming. We know for sure that everyone wore Valentino, kind of a given. 

Kim went for a racy look to attend the brunch; a floor-length gown, embellished with thousands of jeweled butterflies and a wide revealing of the chest. Hair was done Brigitte Bardot style combined with a low messy braid, taking inspiration from that very collection Kim took the dress from.

Kris, (the mum) went for a classic Valentino red dress infused with a large amount of beading to give it glamour and on top of that a black sleeveless cape coat which added sharpness.

Khloe was probably my best dressed, wearing a dress from the F/W 2014 collection. Lovely prints of the gold, it is almost Renaissance inspired, and the pops of colour add a level of sophistication. Love the shoes from Anthony Vaccarello, to finish it all off. Flawless.

Kourtney looked lovely in a white Valentino floor-length dress. Loving the white leather jacket, dressing appropriately for the weather; very practical. She looks like a goddess.

Kendall, wow well she is just the new fresh face of fashion. The wide-leg trouser is quite a thing, but it is trending this season, and I'm all about the trends.

Kylie, my my, she is literally the coolest Kardashian. She is so young and really involved in the fashion frenzy. Obsessed with her hair at the moment, especially slicked back. She really is the queen of edge infused with bohemian to me.

Kanye, I have never seen Kanye look sharp and smart ever, he is always wearing those leather trousers and shearling jackets, never a tux. But now we have reached that day, and he does look hot and so sophisticated.

The Kimye Wedding Weekend Extravaganza

The Kardashians never have an event go unnoticed, there just has to be an over the top hype about it. This happened last weekend for Kim Kardashian's third wedding to ravishing rapper Kanye West. It all happened in Florence and boy was the run up to it an excitement.

For we had the whole 'Kardashian Klan' and all of 600 guests jet to Paris for a big hen night at the Eiffel Tower, a pre-wedding brunch at the château of Valentino Garavani himself, then probably the biggest, most lavish, decadent party at the Palace of Versailles, where Lana Del Rey performed and they partied in the Hall of Mirrors and then the day after, Kimye jetted everyone by private jet to Florence, Forte Di Belvere, where the wedding took place that evening. 

I have decided to break up these events into 4, starting with part 1 today and comment on some of the Kardashian fashion over that weekend, anyway them going to the legend, Valentino Garavani didn't escape my notice!

Firstly we start at Kim's hen night on Thursday night, this involved Kim and 8 or so close friends parade around the Eiffel Tower at night in the most intreeging attire, I have ever seen for a hen night. 

Kim, wearing this very elaborately detailed Balmain dress, retailed for $12000, looks amazing. The detailing is so interesting, it looks like a ceiling of Versailles or another decadent building. The pop of embroidery in the front, makes the piece have an almost vintage feel to it, this is contrasted with the embellishments that embrace the body, giving it gentle hints of modernity.

Mens S/S 2014 Footwear Trends

For all you men who are looking for that perfect spring/summer look, I can tell you one thing; no outfit or look is complete until you have a fine pair of shoes. Every element from your look is crucial to making a good impression on someone, so let's start now.

The Espadrille

Quite a popular footwear choice by designers this season. Seen all over the runways from Givenchy to Dries Van Noten, bursting with vibrant colours, illusionistic prints or just down to earth neutrals, be it with embellishments, cotton, tweeds, metallics or even glitter, we saw them all! A definite comfort option, channelling that beach chic vibe. Imagine that, Riveira chic, oh how wonderful. I give my approval on them, however they cannot be worn sporadically.

The Loafer 

Timeless, always has been and always will. If we travel back in history, the renouned Gucci Horsebit Loafer, created in 1953, was the item that put the house of Gucci on the map and turned it into a global empire. Buyers have been attracted by these loafers for so many years that it has never once gone out of fashion, its classic. I'm not saying to go out and buy a Gucci loafer, but do consider any kind, they are classical, stylish footwear men.

The Sandal

I am NOT talking about those hideous things from the 90s, with those dire Velcro straps and garish green tones. No, infact I am talking about something far more attractive, Italian leathers, metal plates, complex cross-sectional straps and weaves of fabric. Yes, indeed, the gladiator sandal is back! Now I don't mean the knee-high ones made out of just metal, (althought Versace do some which are literally God's work), but nice, simple ones and no they will not reduce your levels of masculinity, you would just simply be considered for having good taste.

The Skater/Plimsol

This is a unisex trend this season. The epitome of modern day fashion. Bringing comfort and that urban edge to the streets. Designers have really gone to town with these, adding prints, metallics, audacious detailing, embellishments, textures; anything to make their mark for the brand. Personally, I like these, but you do have to be careful in which ones you choose, sometimes bold is risqué.

The Desert Boot

You can never get away from these, they're always there, staring you in the face. They are unbelievably popular with the youth of today, why? Because there is some sort of irresistability when you look at them, I have no idea what it is. Do I like them? Definitely, but would I buy them? No, the trend and style of them are just too common nowadays, I like to be unique in what I wear, therefore I wouldn't. This is just the same as the brands Michael Kors and Louis Vuitton, everyone is suddenly buying into them, meaning more and more people are being put off into buying anything else.

Blog makeover

I have decided to make some changes to my blog. As you can see, I have changed the appearance, I am channelling the current trend of monochrome. Also I want to start posting more regularly than I do at the moment, so I shall try post about 3-4 times a week. I will also try and vary my posts aswell, because recently, I have been doing a lot of fashion reviews, eg: Cannes; so now I'll mix it up a bit more and venture into trend reports, must haves and focus on specific designers etc. but also I would like to take any suggestions from you, readers, anything at all to review, rate, discuss or comment on to do with fashion. Cannes Film Festival 2014 Fashion Review

Cannes, the biggest film event of the year. Bringing stars from all across the globe to dress up, party and celebrate the new culture. 

This year Cannes was more popular than ever; we saw literally every A-lister, model and millionaire take to the red carpet to debut their beauty. The fashion choices were vast from Kristen Stewart's Chanel embellished pants to Irina Shayk's poisonous yellow Ateiler Versace. 

Here are the stars who stunned:

1. Kendall Jenner in Chanel- Firstly I was shocked when I saw Kendall in the Riveira, but then I remembered all the Kardashians are migrating to Italy this weekend for probably the most over the top wedding of the decade, therefore I wasn't that shocked.  

Kendall looked amazing, the clean cuts of the black gives us a sense of the modernity she is trying to bring, incorporated with the black and white tweed fabrics on the torso area. Lagerfeld has infused the old into the new, hence why he put it onto Kendall.

2. Cara Delevingne in Chanel Couture F/W 2013- Cara is an obsession to most people these days; therefore in my eyes she cannot faulter, she contains the modern day look of effortless chic. I'm in love with this Bandeau dress because its not particularly figure hugging but at the same time suits Cara so well.

3. Rosie Huntington-Whitely in Gucci- I definitely recognise this dress, maybe because of the classical Gucci silhouette or the minuscule details that accentuate her assets. I have to say Rosie looks stunning and soooo timeless.

4. Irina Shayk in Atelier Versace S/S 2014- Donatella Versace's inspirations for her couture collection were Grace Jones meets Lady Gaga. You can definitely see elements from that inspiration infused in Irina's gown; the hood, firstly = Grace Jones and the poisonous yellow = so Gaga. This event was just after she and Cristiano starred in a sultry cover for Spanish Vogue and boy does she look good.

5. Alessandra Ambrosio in Versace- Another Versace Triumph, I love this. It is structurally brilliant, the one-shoulder details mixed with the 'Versace silhouette' are perfection.

6. Cate Blanchett in Givenchy F/W 2014- Ever since Ricardo Tisci became Creative Designer at Givenchy, we knew it would be special. Every single piece debuted on the runway is art, pure yet clever art; verging on couture. Tisci can make any woman look fabulous, there is no doubt.

7. Cheryl Cole in Monique L'Hullier- My reaction to seeing her was, what is she doing here?! I was so confused, she's not even in the tabloids anymore..but back to the fashion; I thought this was a nice dress for Cheryl Cole, not knockout but nice.

8. Kristen Stewart in Chanel Couture S/S 2014- Well how can one describe this, its like the Kardashians are going to do exercise. Full of luxury and enhanced with embellishments, however, the fitted pants, hmm not too sure on those. You can tell Kstew opted for comfort, I'm just not sure she made the right decision here. But I am obsessed with her shoes, they are to die for!!

9. Natasha Poly in Oscar De La Renta- This model has been kept quiet for some years now, she is THE Russian supermodel and suddenly she appears on the Cannes red carpet. The dark beauty is back and she looked out of this world.

10. Blake Lively in Chanel Couture S/S 2014- I have to say I am not a fan of the series of super skinny waists that were forced through this collection. It's ruining the classic silhouette and creating something deeply unrealistic, it just doesn't feel like Chanel anymore and I hate that. Despite the waist, I think this would be a stunning dress, especially for Blake.

11. Marion Cotillard in Maison Martin Margiela Couture- Margiela is one of the coolest, most modern yet slightly minimalistic brands out there. Therefore it is unique in more ways than one. This dress is art, it contains many textures of fabrics, plastics and other materials, in order to create something immensely beautiful.

12. Eva Longoria in Vionnet- This gal has class thats for sure. Loving the camely beigey colour, it looks so luxurious even in Cannes. The cut-out remind me of Stella Mccartney about 3 years ago, with the trend of large swiped cut-outs and paisley prints.

13. Lara Stone in Calvin Klein Collection- She looks phenomenal, the colour is risqué, but totally complements her skin colour, she looks like a glamourous barbie.

14. Freida Pinto in Michael Kors- This gown is the perfect princess gown, the blush colour is a succulent dream infused with the layers of chiffon, its darling.

15. Jourdan Dunn in Balmain F/W 2014- Jourdan probably has the most 'swag' out of all the models, exception- Cara Delevingne. Having been face of Balmain last season it only seems right for her to wear Balmain. If you look closely at this dress to looks like rope mixed with mesh to create that fibered effect. Love.

16. Jessica Chastain in Givenchy Couture- What can I say? She is old Hollywood glamour in one. She reminds me of a red-head version of Audrey Hepburn, such elegance, such chicness.

17. Eva Green in Custom Elie Saab- I usually don't favour a jump-suit, but in this case I love it. The lace details are breathtaking, and the fit of the piece is just perfect for her silhouette.

18. Zoe Saldana in Victoria Beckham F/W 2014- Victoria Beckham is a genius, we thought she was just a Spice Girl but look at her now, she has a whole empire! This gown reminds me of the beach, the scalloped detail running through the torso and the pleats. I have no idea what the fabric it is but it looks like its infused with some kind of wool.

19. Nicole Kidman in Armani Privé- Wow, i said to myself. This is...something....She looks a bit like an alien, its almost as if you can see right into her. Love the blue, just not into those details.

The Kardashian-West Wedding of the Century

As the Kardashian-West wedding creeps forward even quicker; tomorrow we reach the final day before their intimate affair in a chateau in Florence. Having splashed out $500,000 for the special event, we are hoping for something spectacular.

Kim has been keeping us in the dark about the details of her wedding dress, but the anticipation is building and we are prepared to be stunned. As predictions go, the designers she'll most likely of chosen will be: Ricardo Tisci for Givenchy, Balmain or Lanvin.

The 'Kardashian Klan' are currently in Paris sorting out the last-minute details, then tomorrow night they fly to Florence for the wedding. Kim and Kanye are flying out every guest by private jet...that explains the cost. The guest list includes the likes of JayZ (Kanye's best man), Beyoncé, Serena Williams, Chrissy Teigan, the American Vogue team; unfortunately not Anna Wintour; and Eva Longoria, to name a few. Also rumour has it that Lana Del Rey will be performing at the nuptials.

From what we have heard already its truely going to be the wedding of the century and I am sooooo excited for the outcome!

Louis Vuitton Cruise Monaco 2015

Monaco played host to the Louis Vuitton Cruise collection yesterday; and after watching the show it seemed the perfect location for Nicolas Ghesquiere's second show for the French fashion house.

Last season when Ghesquiere took over the reigns of Vuitton from Marc Jacobs, he debuted a new look for the LV woman, something containing modernity but at the same time with the appearance of vintage, a definite noveau freshness. The Cruise show channelled this, however with a little more flare, be it with the pops of colour, the 70s-esque prints or the trouser suits; it was simply divine.

Chanel Cruise Dubai 2015

Karl Lagerfeld is one of those designers who is able to bring the house of Chanel to any country and make it adapt. We have seen collections in Shanghai, Antiqua, Scotland and Dallas; each one bringing the culture and traditions associated with that place into the clothes.

Dubai seemed perfect for a middle-eastern take on a Chanel show. Staying close to the brand's DNA with the tweed mixed fabrics, Karl worked in the rich and luxury of the fabrics inspired by Arabian prints from the 12-13th centuries combining them with the minuscule details, whether it be embellishments to the must-have balloon trousers.

The collection reminded me of Elizabeth Taylor in Cleopatra, especially the head-pieces and the richness of the details.

Met Gala 2014 Fashion Review

Firstly I apologise readers for the late review, for the Met Gala was infact on Monday. 

This year the Met hosted the work of Charles James; somewhat a legend during the Hollywood glamour era.

The red carpet was awash of classic 50's ballgowns and glitzy gowns, from Beyoncé to Cara Delevingne, each bringing the unique cool to couture.

Anna Wintour- Wearing Chanel Couture. The host, so she can wear basically anything she wants and get away with it.

The Stella Mccartney Gang- Stella certainly dressed them all this year, Cara Delevingne, Rihanna, Stella, Kate Bosworth and Reese Witherspoon to name a few. Definitely a knockout gang, but was it knockout fashion? Cara for sure.

Lupita Nyong'o- Wearing custom Prada. This dress is very Great Gatsby, mixed with that garish Prada jade green embellishment, but lets face it, Lupita looks amazing in everything.

Kim Kardashian- Wearing Lanvin. This dress is baffling, it looks like a sweet wrapper from the colour and the way it fits her, however there is something so luxurious about it and its a definite improvement from last year's vintage sofa disaster.

Kristen Stewart- Wearing Chanel Couture. Wow, just wow. This is structurally interesting, the super skinny waist, which featured throughout the collection, creates an unusual illusion of unreality.

The Beckhams- David wears Ralph Lauren and Victoria wears her own design. There is only one word to describe these two, QUICHE, they are fabulous! Every single Beckham produced is beautiful.

Kendall Jenner- Wearing custom Topshop. I love Kendall and I love that she chose a highstreet brand to design her dress. Topshop was actually quite a popular choice with models at this event, seen on Jourdan Dunn and Toni Gaarn aswell.

Karolina Kurkova- Wearing Marchesa. I like the fact she kept close to the Hollywood ballgowns theme. This is very sharp and extravagant with the OMG factor.

Blake Lively- Wearing Gucci Premiere. Having been the face of the Gucci Premiere fragrance for a while, it seems perfect for Blake to be the Gucci woman. She has the most perfect figure and carries that sophistication wherever she goes. Love.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley- Wearing Balmain Fall 2014. Rosie was one of the only ones to wear an above the knee dress, and I applaude her. I'm absolutely obsessed with this, love the tribal infused with animal prints, studs and leather.

Trend Report- Mercury Metallics

Another favoured trend glistened through the collections this season, metallics. Rich with the vibrancy of the rainbow, from the decadent golds to the sweet yet sour poisonous greens. The catwalk dripped with the body-sculpting, liquid consistency of the iridescent leathers.

One designer who went crazy for lamé was Alber Elbaz for Lanvin, using the most luxurious colours and mixing them with lighter tones to create a shade which dazzled under the light; from bold bronze to pernicious purple and luscious lilac, all adding a darker dangerous feeling to the spring/summer season.

Elbaz also started the trend for 'trash bags'. We saw him reinvent the somewhat boring, black bin bag into a sack of lustrous lamé and of course metallic marvel.
