Haute couture; when the designers can show off their artistic sides and create masterpieces out of clothes. Couture is made entirely by hand; every bead, every jewel is sewed on by the house's finest seamstresses. It is not pret-a-porter and it is hard to buy as it is so exclusive. Celebrities of whom have relationships with certain fashion houses can use their couture collections on red carpets, for example to promote that particular brand. We do not know the price of couture, but we can only assume it will be in the range of 10,000 pounds ascending.
This week we have seen the finest couture moments, from Atelier Versace's sharp, authoritive woman to Lagerfeld's decadent, minimalism for Chanel.
We were plunged into the couture dreamland; Giambattista Valli delivered a breathtaking collection, filled with triple ombré feathered ballgowns, flowery motifs and endless strands of tantalising tulle. Valentino told a fairy tale of woodland fairies dressed in soft, flowing, reels of the most sumptuous silks and dazzling details.
